So here is how this is going down. Actually let me tell you about how this snowball got rolling
1. Kelli's family is coming to visit us in two weeks. And when i say come visit us, I mean all 11 of them, Parents, Sisters, bro-in-laws, nephew, and nieces. We are so excited but realize that there is not place for them to sleep. So we asked ourselves, wouldn't it be nice to have a bigger home?
2. We calculated the drive time and figured that it is between 10-15 minutes more per day to commute from where we live now than living in a community closer, like grapevine or colleyville.
3. Sunday at church, I was talking to a member of the bishopric and told him we were thinking of buying the Vincent's home (a family that just moved out of our ward). He looked at me and said, "you should buy it right now." Joke or inspiration?
4. Today at lunch, Josh checked zillow.com and saw that the Vincent's house was now for rent, and not for sale. Josh thought that this was a change. Could this speed the process up?
5. When the mail came there was a check from our landlord/property manager. Josh opened it up and it said that we have one day to move out. The official title of the letter was (1) DAYS NOTICE TO VACATE. This came as quite the suprise, and it stems from Josh's clerical error. He sent a rent check in, and wrote in letters the proper amount. But wrote in words an amount $50 less. The written amount takes precedent over the number amount, so we were $50 short on rent. But the property manager notified us of this, and we made an online payment of $50. We thought this resolved the issue, but the letter today proves otherwise. So does this mean that we have to move out tomorrow?
6. While putting the kids to bed tonight, Brent Vincent called and told us that he has found a renter but would like to help us out if we want to buy it (or rent it until we can afford to buy it). We talked and it sounds like we might be able to afford it now.
7. Josh talked with the realtor and scheduled a visit for the morning, the realtor lives in our neighborhood. Does a realtor buy a home in a bad neighborhood?
8. Josh called his uncle, and has an appointment tomorrow morning to get approved for a loan. This feels like it is moving a little fast.
9. Josh leaves out of town tomorrow afternoon for the rest of the week, so we need to get this done tomorrow morning. This feels like we are moving really fast.
So now we are going to sleep on it and see what happens tomorrow morning. Kind of strange to think we might buy a house, in the same time frame that Josh buys a sunflower seeds (yes he shops around for the best deal on sunflower seeds).
Thus, if we are going to go through with this, and anyone out there wants to gift us large amounts of cash, now would be a great time to do so. Seriously, feel free to help.

Oh my I cant believe it! At least rent it to buy its bigger. Plus your still near me and a great ward!
I agree! If you feel at least a little bit nervous, for sure rent. And what the heck is the deal with your landlord!?? Seriously?? You paid your rent! He can't just kick you out! I don't understand! If you need help--CALL US!!!
haven't researched it, but I am almost certain that the landlord can't give you "(1) Days to vacate"! if you are $50 short on rent due to a clerical error that is now cured. Let me know if you choose to fight that.
I don't know about Texas but in Utah there are very strict eviction laws, and they are even more strict if there are children residing at the residence-- I think the letter is a "clerical error" oh and I have about $7 towards your down:0)
sooooo?????? im dying to hear what you decided
