Hanging with the Quists

We went over to the Quists for dinner this past week, a little 87th ward reunion, and the kids had a good time playing with some of their toys.

Matthew enjoyed the little tricycle.

McKay sported the new look with some sweet specs.
McKay and Matthew enjoyed the Wii, and i would like to note that they were playing Disney Princess game.
Thank you Britton and Kirsten for a great meal and fun night.

Pregnancy Test

Some people have to go to the doctor before they announce it to others. Some people rely on slef administered tests (the ones from the dollar store are quite accurate). We on the other hand use the natural method.

Yep she's pregnant.

applesauce!

Recently the boys and I spent a morning picking apples at Grisamore Farms and then McKay and I made the apples into applesauce and canned a few jars. McKay absolutely loved the process (unfortunately, neither of my boys like applesauce that much)! I took this picture of him documenting our fun together, and he took the picture of me.

Good times.

The Hamptons & NYC

My friends (Brooke, Jordan, and Robin) & I ran the Hamptons Half Marathon on Long Island a few weeks ago. I'm pretty sure they are going to kill me for posting these pictures seeing as how we are all sporting the sweaty and make-up free look after running for 2-3 hours, but I am going to chance it and hope that they don't check my blog that frequently. The amazing part about us all finishing this race is that 3 of us (at least) were pregnant!
We celebrated completing our run in the only way conceivably possible after burning approximately 1300 calories apiece. We took the train straight into NYC & waited for 2 hours for a table at Serendipity, where we quickly added those 1300 calories right back onto our bodies! (The frozen hot chocoloate was to die for, and I am totally not a fan of hot chocolate - or anything frozen really, for that matter).

Disneyland

For those of you who don't have a cousin named Megan, you need to get one. Our cousin hooked us up with a great time at Disneyland. Mike and Katie also planned their trip accordingly so that they could come with us too.

This is just preparation, even though it is not sunny, you can still get sunburned (i.e. the day before while at the beach).

Megan getting McKay ready

Mike actually went through a whole body of sun block by himself. If you know him, this is not shocking.

Matthew all ready to go, unsure what is about to hit him. But he does have his autograph book ready.
Indiana Jones was the first ride of choice, Mike and Katie chillin in the caves.
and yes, even a picture of Kelli and Josh.
It was so scary inside the cave (aka the line to the Indiana Jones ride)
All set to go, we even got the front seat. Don't worry Josh was driving, which means passengers are safe, but curbs and train tracks are not.
Megan with Katie and Mike waiting for Space Mountain. (on a side note, Katie was able to go in the handicapp accessible part of this ride)
Getting ready to go Screamin'. This was one of the best rides, and the picture of us on the ride is on our fridge (p.s. $45 dollars for a wallet size photo, or so it seemed)
Brothers just being brothers. It came out cute, but i don't think those were McKay's original intentions for the embrace.
We ate at the Blue Bayou, a tradition for Kelli and Josh. It is such a great atmosphere.
McKay nor Matthew appreciated the atmosphere, but the other patrons were quite excited when both kids fell asleep.
And so they spent a good portion of the day asleep. This was a good thing for us.
This was McKay's favorite part of the day. Playhouse Disney on Stage. It was such a riot to see him get so excited.
As every Disneyland trip should be, we met the characters of Disney (not that any of these guys are still on TV or even that my kids know who they are)
So maybe he knows this one.
Goofy was standing here, trying not to move. A lot of people thought he was a statue or something. McKay wasn't fooled, he just wanted to join the party.
Matthew did not like Sully too much, and interesting enough Sully does not do autographs (kind of Randall of him) and is rarely out to meet since it requires a really tall person to be in the costume.
The only reason for the trip to Disneyland was for McKay to meet Lightning McQueen, but unknown to us, they are not out on Wednesdays. Nor is there a Pixar Car parade. We tried to rectify the situation by showing him the signs of Radiator Springs and Route 66. Megan also helped by buying him a lighting mcqueen toy.
Here we are on the Tower of Terror, good right, but takes the picture before your drop. Which means no one is scared except for the hosers who have been on the ride before. Kind of like the nob with the red shirt. The princess girl is not faking, she really is scared. Ken is sitting next to me, he is Megan's boyfriend.
To end the day we got off our feet and watched the fireworks. It was a great ending and the boys and parents were all worn out thoroughly.
It was a great time, and we have to thank Megan and Ken for making it happen.

Santa Monica

Santa Monica Beach was the on the schedule for the next day.

Muscle beach is a fun place to stop:
Matthew got into the action, he picked up the parrallel bars quick.

McKay had a great time, climbing things and of course jumping off.
I don't think he thought this is how it would go.

The highlight of the day was meeting Cam and his family. Before my mom met my dad, she had Cam, and gave him up for adoption were he raised by a great family in Orem. After 30+ years they found each other and most of my siblings went to visit him last year. This was my first chance to meet him, and while it was weird at first, meeting him was a great experience. He is one of the nicest guys that I have met, and my kids absoultely loved him. Here is a picture of Cam wrestling with the kids on the trampoline.

Here is the picture of Cam's family. He has two kids about the same age as mine, Grant is the oldest and Kit. They are an energetic duo.

Cam works for a marketing company and makes the Jack in the Box commercials. It was great to see his work, and to be honest they were very funny commercials.

California here we come (Dinoco here we come)

Just like Mac, McKay and Matthew dozed off. I though it would have been funny to leave them in Barstow, which ironically is right on route 66. But as much as my kids like that movie, I don't know if they would have liked to live it for themselves.
We did arrive at Birch and Sandy's just in time for Aunt Marguerite's 28th birthday. Many of the family came and it was so great hanging out and talking. Megan brought a cake and McKay worked with Birch to light the cake. (On a side note: visiting uncle shawn is visually the same as visiting my dad. They are identical with their no mustache and glasses. Birch was a visual breath of fresh air).
After cake and ice cream (and a lot of frosting) we turned McKay loose to entertain the crowd. He did a great job, then we gave him the camera. He took some good pictures, but most were not so visable. Here are some...

Cousin Megan, Grandma, and Aunt Marguerite. Three of the funnies nicest ladies you will find.

Birch chillin by his barbeque (or manque because there ain't nothing girly or barby about it) If you look between megan and grandma, that's Ken. Hi Ken.
This picture is the one that didn't turn out too well. It was suppose to be of Marguerite, but then Dave got in the way. (Sorry Dave, that was too easy) It's great to have an uncle to talk sports to, and he gives the best wedding present, baseball bag.
Birch and Sandy have a sweet house in Rancho Cucamonga. The kids loved playing with the dogs, once they got over the fear. And upstairs is a harlem globetrotter pinball machine. Thank you again Birch and Sandy for your hospitality.
