This weekend our family went to the Bonds Ranch farm pumpkin patch. It's less than 10 minutes away from us, which is generally a requirement for any activity I take the kids to do because I hate to drive and the traffic here is awful. AND any family event (i.e, pumpkin patch) is always crawling with families from all over the sprawling suburbia. And because family event planners here know that, they make sure things like this are usually extremely commercialized.
Anyway, the kids LOVED this little pumpkin patch! Everything was free except the pumpkins. Hay rides, face painting, hay maze, bounce houses, and a little farmer's market with a small selection of veggies, canned goods, and yummy homemade vegetarian tamales. It was totally my thing.
Everything was really small scale (the hay ride was provided by a riding lawn mower - funny!), so this patch would maybe not be so fun if we had older kids.... but because it was all small-scale, no one was there. We had the whole place to ourselves.

Looks like so much fun. And I'm jealous to see you all wearing shorts...
