In Memory of Grandpa Jones

My Dad's father, Ed Jones, passed away on Wednesday so this post is in memory of him. He was an ornery old cowboy who loved to drink (too much), had a bad temper, and passed that along with a whole load of stubborness down to his 7 children and maybe even some of the grandchildren (of course not me).
He was a gardener and made a h*** of a homemade salsa (he would want me to say it that way). His homemade horseradish is the only way I truly enjoy a steak and I will need to get that recipe from someone.
I'm pretty sure he scared the living s*** (trust me, he would want to hear it that way) out of anyone who met him. He lives in my childhood memory as one of the tallest and most intimidating people I've ever met.
But, whenever I took my boys to visit him he softened right up, became a big teddy bear, pulled them right up onto his lap and held them and took them out to see his horses and made em feel like they were real cowboys like he was. My boys loved Great Grandpa Jones.
I'm sure he never realized the legacy he left behind or the impact he had on his kids and grandkids. But there are a whole slew of Grandpa Jones stories that will be told and retold for generations and his influence will be felt long after he's gone. We will miss you Grandpa.
