The next step is to prevent weeds, a little work now to save a lot later (although pulling weeds would be a great job for my young children, I am not confident that they can distinguish a weed from a young sapling of a tomato plant). So we decided to lay down a tarp.
I tried to dig up the grass where the box would be. Turns out that was a very difficult task. Even got myself a blister from the shovel. I also tried to dig out the frame so that it would lay flat.
The final step was to cut the tarp off the roll and hammer it to the frame. Matthew turned out to be very good at hammering if he could make contact with the nail. McKay had a better swing to contact ratio, but was not very powerful.
with the tarp down, we are ready to lay downt he dirt.
