With little sleep the night before it was clear both Kelli and Josh could have worn the grumpy hat. We got the fire started first thing then turned toward breakfast. Spencer lost it, we are not sure why but something was not absolutely perfect about his pancakes that merited a break down.
McKay slept in, only because he didn't sleep the night before. When he got up he ate his breakfast and the wanted to eat cactus. He had a outed out the perfect cactus the day before so we hunted it down and chopped it off. We cleaned off the pokeys and then fried it up. He ate it very happily but Kelli not I thought it was worth consuming ever again.
As the sun came out, looked like things were going to be okay. Then Matthew fell into the fire. I have no idea how it happened, but it is not far fetched to say that Matthew can be clutsy. Kelli shouted and josh quickly yanked him out. Luckily only his hand appears to be burnt. And just like a burnt marshmallow, it isn't fun to have a burnt son. We tried to comfort him, but his incessant cries of I wanna go home finally convinced us that we should pack up and go. After assessing his injuries, slight burn on his hand and a scratch on his neck from the metal fire pit protector, which failed in one of its duties.
All in all, it was a great trip and we are glad to be back in the comforts of our own home.
