Camping

We arrived at our campsite and got the fire started (auto correct changed my misspelling of fire started to fire darted. Unfortunately there were no blue darts, but that would have been fun).

We cooked the traditional Dutch oven potatoes and finished it off with some s'mores for dessert. Kids loved the fire and the action of lighting sticks on fire. To finish the nigh, while Matthew and I were "watering trees" we saw an armadillo. I went back and got McKay and we tracked him down again. First texas armadillo!!

The night went well and as darkness set upon us so did the cold. We gathered input tent and had Kelli and josh on the ends with their mummy bags. The kids had every blanket imaginable to keep them warm. Even though we encouraged them to bundle up, it wasn't enough to keep them warm. Little sleep was had as kids flopped out of their blankets, parents gave up their cozy sleeping bags, and the cold creeped into our bones. That is except for Matthew, who was fast asleep in his blanket cocoon all night.
