Here in Texas we have 2:00 church, so that leaves a lot of time in the morning to find something to do. So here is an example of one Sunday morning.
After scoring a sweet set of K'nex from a yard sale, McKay helped his daddy construct this ball machine. (In all honesty, the K'nex were not purchased for McKay, but rather Josh bought them for himself and was able to convince Kelli that this was for McKay). For those who have ever played K'nex, know that this can take up the entire morning hours.
The other thing that 2:30 church allows, is for the top chef in all of us to come out and try some new recipes. Josh called his sister Annie to ask for the recipe for 8 layer jello. Her response was don't do it, it takes too long. This made it the perfect recipe. The key to making 8-layer jello is to have each layer set completely before the next layer. Matthew and McKay were very helpful and excited to shake things up.

For those with 2:00 church, here is the recipe:

And here are the result. Take my word, it tasted awesome. Kelli was pleasantly suprised. It is very fun to play with, and do be careful because inhalation can be dangerous.

For those with 2:00 church, here is the recipe:
Make 1 package of jello and place it is a large glass caserole dish.
After that layer has set, make another package of jello, it is helpful to mix it in a quart glass jar and add ice. Also add about 2 tablespoons of sour cream. Pour on top of previous layer of jello, chill.
For the 3rd layer, mix a normal package of jell-o, no sour cream.
Alternate every other layer with sour cream.
Go until you reach the optimal nubmer of layers, or until your overflow your casserole dish.
(Note: to make this dish taste even better, it helps to speak like Julia Childs, Hellllllloooooo)
