A little insight into my new job. The company is called litigation analytics. It is a small firm focuses on estimating human capital models. For those that didn't spend five years playing intramural football while going to grad school, that usually deals with estimating lost wages due to an accident it injury.
So for my first case, due to a doctors alleged negligence, notice the lawyer talk, a child has a life expectancy of 10 years. So I estimated what her wages would have been over her life time and recommend that her family be paid that much.
Today I looked at how an opposing economist estimated lost wages in another case and I had to replicate his estimates then argue why they were not right. I've always been good at arguing, huh mom?
My office is on the third floor. And this is what it looks like.
