Ode to Davey Saunders

For you veterans out there, I want you to think back to when Bo Jackson played for the royals. They were playing the Orioles at Kauffman field in Kansas City. There was a deep fly ball to center field. Bo Jackson patrolled those grounds, he had a beat on the ball, caught it near the fence and then ran up the wall and back down. This left the fans and casual ovbserver in shock and awe that such a feat could be accomplished.
Last night such awe and amazement was experienced in the Provo City Softball Tournament. It was the top of the 7th, we were down by 8 runs, and there was a runner on first. The batter crushed a ball to deep right center. Davey Saunders had a great jump as he turned to his right and headed to the wall in a dead sprint. As he darted to the wall he looked over his left shoulder and caught the ball as he collided with the chain link fence. As the spectators cheered and the opponents jeered, Davey was not done. He turned and hurled the ball in to double up the base runner.
As it turned out he saved the game, in the bottom of the 7th we scored 8 straight runs including a walk off grand slam to win the game.

Were you watching this amazing act of athleticism from the bench and wishing as you do during flag football that you could do some of those things? Give up on McKay and Matthew as well. You are their father and, as athleticism goes, that has damned them for life
